Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6. In cases where schools don’t follow year groups (for example, in some special schools), pupils aged 5 to 10 attract the funding.
Whole school progress in the physical aspects of the curriculum saw significant improvements:
Sports premium 2017 – 2018 Academic Year
The sports premium for the academic year 2018/19 is expected to be £16500 although no funds have been received yet.
Sports Premium Funding this year has effectively supported the provision of PE throughout the school and ensured that team teach opportunities have enhanced the quality of provision and training opportunities for staff involved where expertise in the subject has been in the past lacking. Staff have developed their skills in providing appropriate activities to meet and challenge the needs of pupils at Fairfield and from 2018-2019 will be more pro-active in delivering their own PE sessions. Funding has also enhanced the provision of swimming activities by providing further opportunities for identified pupils to develop their physical development and independence in the water. Again, staff expertise has been enhanced by the opportunity for further appropriate training. It is hoped that future funding will further enhance staff development and training in the physical aspects of sensory interaction and expertise staff collaboration to support these and other related activities.
